My Approach

My approach is collaborative and reflective. I aim to be warm and honest in the work, offering a space where experiences or feelings that may have been hard to understand or express elsewhere can be spoken about more openly.

I’m particularly interested in working with relationship difficulties and with how people come to relate to themselves over time. Often, the ways we relate to ourselves and others are shaped by earlier experiences, relationships, or beliefs about what is acceptable to feel or need. This can show up in repeated patterns, self-criticism, or coping strategies that no longer feel helpful. Bringing awareness to what’s happening beneath the surface can lessen the pull of familiar patterns and create space for something different.

I also have a particular interest in experiences shaped by wider social and cultural forces. My research explored the experience of internalised sexism and how damaging it can be for both women and men, and this continues to inform how I think about power, identity, and self-worth in the therapeutic work.

Existential Therapy

“Existential therapy does not seek to explain the person, but to understand how they experience their world.”
Ernesto Spinelli

My work is grounded in existential psychotherapy and phenomenology. This means we focus on how you experience your life and the meaning you make of what happens to you.

From an existential perspective, anxiety, sadness, and uncertainty are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are often understandable responses to loss, change, responsibility, or the limits of control we all live with. In therapy, we take these experiences seriously and explore what they may be asking of you, rather than trying to eliminate them or explain them away.

While we cannot always control what happens in our lives, we can reflect on how we respond. Therapy offers a space to think honestly about choices, values, and direction, and to consider ways of living that feel more authentic and aligned with who you are.

Alongside existential therapy, I also integrate psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, allowing the work to remain flexible and responsive to your needs.
